Jack's Story
Written by Kimberly Richardson
My baby Jack entered my life the Summer of the year I got married. A man had found him in the park and just happened to knock on a friend's door with the adorable rabbit in his hands. I scooped him up and a bond was formed immediately. I had just lost my beautiful black bunny several months before and was lost. Jack quickly made himself at home with the two dogs we had. Then in February of 2004 I let him out of his house while I was getting ready for work and he was running and jumping around and ended up injuring his back right leg. He learned to adapt but he seemed depressed. I had read on the internet to get a "handicapped" bunny a friend, so we did. He bounced back to almost 100%. He and his friend did great together until I became pregnant. My husband is an animal lover but they are my responsibility. I could not pull him out from under the bed, etc. so I did not let him out much. He apparently got stoved up with his leg and just deteriorated quickly. I could not put him down and I hope that he did not suffer. I prayed to God to take him Saturday night and he passed sometime after midnight. I hope I was a good bunny mom. I loved him dearly and he was a good friend! I will miss him terribly. He so loved his bananas.
