This goes out to remember my nephew, Monster. He was found on the streets in Houston, Texas by my Brother-in-Law and his wife. He was jet black with a little white on his chest. Monster had the looks of a German Shepard and Collie but the attitude of Chow. You know the ones, don't mess with me until I am ready to be messed with. He loved life and how he got his name fit him perfectly. I was told this story many years ago, so excuse me for not being able to remember all of it, but the family knows that at least I am trying. He was out in the back yard taking care of business when he was a puppy, and saw my sister-in-laws plants in a pot. He decided that they did not need to be planted in the pots any longer and dug up every last one. When she went out to see him, she saw the mess first and called him a Monster, so that is how the name stuck. As he grew older, he was a loving pet that loved his two best friends, his owners. They cared about so much that every time we would go on a vacation somewhere, he too would get a gift. He loved bread, chips, crackers, ice cream, any kind of meat, and let you know it too. He had a special place in my heart because my husband and I would take care of him periodically when they went out of town or which ever. He esp. enjoyed me coming over because we would take long walks together. My husband was another best friend to him because on the holidays, he would get treats under the table and probably more than what he really needed. But all of the memories that we all have for him will never be forgotten. He was a smart lovable dog that was good and good natured. He was my brother-in-laws shotgun partner for the donut runs to Shipley's donuts on Friday mornings. At the end, he was still a good dog. He had his spleen removed and things just did alright for a little while, but then his blood count could not get up high enough to equal out with the WBC. He was a trooper during this time of dealing with everything, the medication and such. But then it happened one day that he wore himself out to a frazzle. He got himself stuck under the table and legs all twisted that he wore him self down. He would not eat or drink anything. So we all pitched in on consoling him, giving him water and Dogsure to make sure he was even getting some meal in him. I even made a special trip for him to give him a shot to get his energy level back up, but it did not do too well for him. His parents had to decide to put him out of his misery so that he did not have to suffer any longer. We all miss him, and the house will not be the same with out the family member that we all have loved and got close to. He let us all in his heart when he got to know us and trust us, we will never let him out of ours. We all love you Monster and you will be missed dearly. You are always going to be in our thoughts and prayers everyday. We love you and hope that you can have steak with JB, Houston, and yourself. Say hello to them for us and enjoy your after life even more. You were and still are the best dog any one would want to have. Take Monster, and remember they named a movie called Monster's Inc. after you, except you were the heart Monster, the one who stole our hearts.
