So long O Hound, King, C Monster We’ll forever miss your golden sponge cake body Striped and bold in sunlight Nestled by my side, my bedtime buddy or Rolling like a fiery mountain on our floor Your crocodile smile, your delicate pink padded paws Raised in salute so many times over the years You took over our hearts No more will you raise a ruckus for shrimp Or roll your corn cobs on the carpet No more will you crawl on my open ribs To celebrate morning with your jaws snapping on my wrist and No more will I regard your nicked nose with quiet reprimand Goodbye proud beast May your stripes burn bright in our memories May your fat fluffy tail twitch in delight Thick with the rapture of conquest May you howl at all the seasons In your happy meadow of contentment Where the cool spring runs and the butterflies dance And where a warm lap and bowl of fresh milk Always awaits the fairest weather friend |
