‘Vinnie’ - Sometime in 1998 to 4th October 2006 Also known as ‘Verinna’, ‘Binnie’, ‘Winnie’, ‘Little man’, ‘Nugget Dog’, ‘Fattie’, ‘Chunky Bite’ & ‘Get off the couch’………. But most of all as Katrina’s best friend, hot water bottle and confidant. We don’t know how old Vinnie was, or when he was born, but we do know that despite his quite chronic case of small dog syndrome that Vinnie had a special place in the hearts of many. We will never forget his ‘unique’ looks or personality, his dislike of most men, his love of having his back scratched, his constant hunger for anything eatable… or the time he ate the entire corned beef from the bin, leaving his belly dragging on the ground! Since November of 1999 until January of this year when Katrina began her overseas adventure there were very few moments that she and Vinnie were apart. He slept in her bed every night, and when she left he continued to insist that someone in the house share not only the bed but also space under the covers!! Sometimes referred to as ‘Super dog’ Vinnie has defied death on a number of occasions including his attempt at proving his immortality when he ran through a glass door and came out on the other side completely unscathed…. But unfortunately Vinnie was not immortal and yesterday surrounded by some of the people who loved him he closed his eyes for the last time…. Vinnie will be sadly missed by Maxie his partner in crime, there is no longer any competition for fetching the ball… no more singing in unison, and maxie will finally get to eat all of his dinner uninterupted!! Vinnie whilst we will miss you terribly, apparently calories don’t count in doggie heaven so you will be in your element! I am sure your long lost buddy Cassie will be waiting for you at the gates, ready to show you to the most comfortable couches and anxious for a Vinnie special eye lick!!
Rest in peace little man, you will never be forgotten!!
