My Rottie, Solomon was born on September 25, 1996. As a puppy he was a total disaster but I loved him anyways. Everyone told me I should find another home for him, that Rotties are bad breeds and couldn't be trusted.
Well, here I am, almost 11 years later and he still belongs to me. Only now, he's loved by my husband, our daughter and my entire skeptical family. He has been a part of my life for so long I can't imagine life without him. He's seen me through so many trials and tribulations in my life, including the loss of my brother and father. He's my faithful companion, my protector, my security, my playmate, my ROCK.
This evening my husband and I will take our beloved boy to be sent to Heaven, as cancer has ravaged his body and left him a shadow of his former self. He will never be replaced in our hearts. His gentleness and unconditional love have changed our lives forever. The smartest dog I have ever known. His life was beautiful and strong. I will miss his sloppy kisses and his singing the most, along with everything else about him. I can only pray that his we gave him as much love as he gave back to us. May he rest in peace as our hearts break.
