My Princess
Written by Princess Brinkman
Princess story began in New York City. I don't know much about her life before Animal Control picked her up. She was very comfortable around people, so I figured she had an owner at one point. There was a BB in her body, so I figured someone shot at her at one point.

I do know that after she was picked up by Animal Control, she ended up the euthanized list. Fortunately, she was selected to be part of a no-kill shelter.

I don't know how long she was at the no-kill shelter, but I got the impression she wasn't happy. She used to sit in her kitty bed, and stare out the window. She ignored the other cats, and kept to herself.

My aunt worked at the shelter, and she promised Princess that she would give her a home. It took her awhile. But after a plane trip to Illinois, Princess ended up with me.

I hadn't owned a cat since college, and I was a bit nervous about taking on the responsibility. But Princess was very easy to handle. She was the most well behaved kitty I'd every owned. She was very loving, and I always knew she would welcome me home. 2003 was a great year.

In 2007, I discovered that she had feline leukemia. In June of 2008, the vet told me that her kidneys were failing. In September, she was very sick, and nothing we did could make her better. She had to be put to sleep.

I'm really glad that I got to save a kitty from a lonely life. Like many cats, she didn't deserve to be trapped in a shelter. She deserved to be a pet. I'm glad that I was able to make her feel like a special pet. I just wish I'd had more time with her. But we did have good years together.

Princess was loved, and I will miss her dearly.
